I've done the exact same thing, left my Tiger 800 on a (very slight) slope, went indoors...BANG! Sickening sound.

ARRG, I woke up to the sound of a heavy rain a few months ago. Looked outside, and thought I should get out there and put something under the side stand. By the time I got there, the ST3 was down. Similar damage

Hope you don't feel like the lone ranger of tip-overs. I did the same exact thing to my ST4, with almost the exact same damage. Gravel and side stands don't stand a chance without a puck under the stand. I carry two of them now, one in my paniers and one in my riding pants pocket. Idaho, USA. I also avoid stopping on steep grades . . . like the plague.

Sorry to hear the bike had a fall mate. The upside is that the pannier protected the rear of the bike. We've all done something similar.
Many moons ago when u was 18 I had a 400/4 Honda. Was doing a u turn and my flares got caught in the brake pedal! I kid you not. In front of mates too.

I've rolled a bike off the side stand a couple of times. My Scrambler, with the slipper clutch, can roll a bit in gear if on a moderately steep grade. Caught it before a fall, but I have to keep that in mind. Cheers.

Howdy! I just bought myself a beautiful black 2005 ST3 and man am I in love with this thing. The previous owner had done the same thing so i am going to have ro replace the fairing but it runs perfectly and with the purchase i also received all the tume up information which was done at all proper intervals. I jumped on it as it was priced at $2700. Thank you for the info i truly enjoy it!

Went for a short ride (it's been a warm winter in Illinois) yesterday. Stopped in front of the garage door, got off my XS1100 Special (I restored) and opened the door. I got back on the bike and slowly guided it in. Unbeknownst to me, I caught the side stand on something. When I came to a hault and tilted it to the left to rest it on the stand, it slowly went all the way over. Thankfully, very minimal damage other than the gaping hole in my pride. Mad at myself. I'm sorry Andy, that sucks. I have made the same mistake a couple of times, but have been lucky enough to be able to grab the bike.
