New affordable housing development opens in St. Pete

A new affordable housing development called Skyway Lofts opened in St. Pete Tuesday. It's a 65 unit apartment community for people earning 60% of the area median income. For a single-person home that's $41,350.

This is the first new construction in St. Pete by Blue Sky Communities which is based in Tampa and develops affordable housing across the state.

Most units are priced at $762 a month for a one-bedroom and $901 dollars a month for a two-bedroom. All the apartments have energy-efficient features and on-site amenities like a clubroom, fitness center, laundry and parking.
