Uncharted 3 Is Better Than You Remember

Uncharted 3 seems to be an entry people skip over when discussing their favorites in the Uncharted franchise. Speaking for myself, it's a game where I could recall very little about it before sitting down to play it again. To my surprise, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception holds up quite well upon the replay and this video shall explain why I believe that to be so!

This one is my favorite in the series, with 2 very close behind. Nate wandering through the desert while Marlowe narrates poetry from T.S. Eliot. It felt so different from the rest of the games to that point. No one was trying to kill you. There was no intricate set design where the building or structure you were on was exploding/collapsing/on fire. Just Nate, alone. No quips, no jokes. Just stewing in how he’d failed after everyone warned him this would happen.

This one is my favourite in the series, I'm so glad that (for the original trilogy at least) the series topped itself with each entry (4 being close). The story was great, the combat was improved and the set pieces were made crazier and awsomer. 2nd favourite game of all time

As an actual historian, I love the history of Uncharted 3 the MOST. It reminds me a lot of Raiders of the Lost Ark, T.E. Lawrence being a prevalent plot point for this as well as just seeing this adventure be as grand as possible, man it warms my heart. Uncharted is just the best man.

This was honestly my favourite of the original uncharted trilogy, always loved the desert setting

Taking this retrospective look at Uncharted makes me all the more angry the movie turned out the way it did.

I’m so glad you included the Subway commercial. I could be wrong, but I miss when games used to have commercials like that where they had characters in comical situations.

With Indiana Jones 3 being my fav in that series, this game just has a special place in my heart. The Sully - Drake interactions make it for me.

The pirate subplot really does exemplify the "We have to make sense of this cool gameplay segment we came up with in the story and vice versa" thing the devs were talking about

I wonder if we would've seen it get repurposed for U4, had it been cut from U3
cause pirates and shit

Maaan I remember playing Uncharted 3 like 11 years ago and this video felt like a huge nostalgia trip. I used to consider 1 my favorite but after these videos and looking back I just realized that 3 was the one I enjoyed the most and the one with the fondest memories attached to it.

Lmfao I vividly remember that Subway commercial. More companies should do stuff like this to better promote their games.

And also, yet another great video from you J. Uncharted 3 was the first PS3 game I've played and it means a lot to me that people like you review it and praise what it has to offer. For some reason I kept thinking about Tom Holland lol

The multiplayer in uncharted 3 hooked me to the point of playing it 5 years after everyone left out and went to other games. It wasn’t perfect by a LONGSHOT, but there was so many ways to play the game that it made it up for it. The maps weren’t annoying and compact enough to always find people and keep the action going. I would’ve loved it if they added the multiplayer back in the drake collection.

I love uncharted so damn much it's Easley my favorite game franchise of all time also did you know Uncharted 3 had a lot of cut content and the guy who played Charlie was supposed to be a bigger role instead of just leaving halfway through

I remember that before Uncharted 3 the player barely had any backstory for Nathan Drake regarding how he met Victor Sullivan. Overall I liked their elaboration as to how important Sully is to Nathan because he was essentially the father figure he never had growing up.

I believe Talbot was supposed to be a Djinn, that would explain how he disappears around that corner and after getting shot, comes back completely fine, some may think i'm reading to much into it, but the characters in the game are confused by both of these, and the game doesn't answer how Talbot does these things, why would the game put emphasise on these if the explanations are something like "oh he's fine after getting shot, he's just wearing a bulletproof vest" because that's really weak, I think they just didn't have enough time in development to reveal the Djinn twist and make a boss fight around that, so they dropped it.

Didn’t play 1-3 as they came out as I was a little too young. I got the 1-3 bundle for the ps4 when I was about 14 I think and played all three in the span of like a month during the summer. Absolutely love this series and this video took me back and reminded me of how good this whole series is. Great video man really felt the nostalgia on this one.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the retcon of Nate's ring. I remember when I first played through this game on PS3, and they went into how he got the ring and what it meant to him, my first thoughts were, "Then no way he would have just wanted to chuck it in Uncharted 1!"

Now i didnt play the uncharted series until about a year or two ago and i stsrted with the 4th game so meeting sully and seeing him all but adopt nate is what sold me on him in general and then to see him in the rest of them was the icing on the cake.

Even with some inconsistencies in the story telling, Uncharted 3 is, still to this day, an amazing and enjoyable game you can dive in!
It's also the only one were you can throw back grenades (shame the others don't have that...)

This was my favorite in the series. The set pieces were unreal. The sinking ship level in particular was insane and the Arabia setting thereafter was gorgeous. Totally underrated in retrospect aside uncharted 4. Super commentary bro. subbed and liked.
