What senior citizens are looking for are no kids, no millennias, actually no one under 55.

What about cruise lines that not only cater for seniors but also for single seniors as many of us have sadly lost our life partners and most cruise lines expect us to pay double to travel alone

Your criteria apply nicely to people of any age, and are basically what we look at when choosing a cruise. We include a few other points like length of cruise and where a particular cruise is going and that sums up our decision making. However, having determines our favorite line, we start with looking at what they have available and move on from there.

One point that people often don't think of. Ships with elaborate children's programs and activities like water slides and race cars have to pay for these activities, and the 3rd and 4th passenger fares still tend to be low. That means that the first 2 passenger fares can be artificially elevated to cover all that real estate on the cruise that you may not be using. I'd rather pay for things that I'm using! Another point, if you are cruising a "new to you" line, make sure that you are reading current reviews. We've experienced better and worse food thru the years on our two most often cruised lines. If the ship hires a new pastry chef or a new stateside director of food and beverage across the line, expect changes...which you may or may not care for. If you had a favorite menu item, that doesn't mean it will be available on your next cruise! (although they may create it for you on request). And how do you feel about upcharges vs. a more inclusive model?

Very well done review, as usual!

Wow, that's a lot to think about. I think I would have to take a dozen cruises just to narrow down what I would like, or have a really great travel agent. Thanks for the video, very helpful, please keep them coming.

On Viking river cruises the average age is 70 for its customers. Absolutely the best experience we’ve ever had.

I'm a Gen Xer too—and lately I’ve been seriously thinking… am I even going to be able to retire? The idea of living on a cruise ship sounds dreamy, but I’m nowhere near prepared for anything like that.

🏖️👍Hey Walter. Great explanations. We are a group of retired business friends and we are looking for a cruise that might offer Bingo games. Please keep us updated, and thanks again!😁👍🏖️

Well done. As I tell my wife it is up to You what you want and need in a cruise that determines what line and ship. I just wish more went to Tortola. We really enjoyed that port.

I am fifty two. I have only been on one cruise in my life. And that was carnival about fifteen years ago. I am looking to start cruising again. The prices are so high now. I do not want to have to spend a fortune on specialty dining. I still see that carnival has the best prices, Are there any spots to go and get away from the noise if you want to? I figured I could cruise on carnival in the off season when there wasn't so many children. I think that princess would be a good fit, But I am very laid back and non stuffy. And price is very important. I hope the carnival can still be a good choice for us older folk

Don't want to go on a ship with 7, 000 passengers. Even 4, 000 passengers is pushing it. Like Princess, but, they are upping their prices and cutting back a lot. One reason for not liking NCL, and RCCL is they have food that isn't good. Service is also bad on those lines. Most of the cruises my late wife and I were on were on Carnival. Very good food and excellent service.

Just booked a Virgin cruise so we will also be up to eight different lines. Thanks for your terrific Virgin videos. I would say Cunard is the very best for seniors. Lux and classic. If you don't want a lot of kids, don't cruise during school holiday's.

You missed out Viking and Ponant. Why?

My fiancée and I want to do cruise for the first time. The week before Christmas. Small senior group, stop at different ports.

I got an understanding from other videos that it''s a good idea to go during school season avoid children and for five or more days avoiding young "adults" on long weekend cruises who go all out until they pass out.

I’m looking for a cruise to the Caribbean for my dad, who’s 80 and has trouble walking long distances. It doesn’t have to be an all adult trip but which cruise ships are MORE friendly to Seniors and do they have accessibility options and/or wheelchairs if needed. Also, do most cruise ships have multiple elevators and/or escalators? Thanks 🙏🏻

Holland america definitely caters to senior citizens however I AM at 57 (just about a senior citizen 😉) and WILL NEVER go on another HAL ship, too many pain in the seniors, love this commentary because just about ANY cruise line is good for a senior 😁 NOT going to go on the "regular/average" senior line, looking forward to Virgin Voyages! Excellent comparison Walter!

Walter, I’d like to get info about taking a Viking Cruise on the Mississippi. Can you help me? I would be by myself and I am a little handicapped, don’t do steps. Hopefully I can take the Viking Cruise for a three day trip. Is it a round trip out of New Orleans.
