I was just chatting about spinners with a friend who picked a lock to control by tensioning opposite to the way the lock opens. Great vid and very useful. I may get one myself for that rare but critical situation where I’d need one :-)

Yup it's an extremely useful tool for locksmiths as well, generally I know which direction to pick a lock but sometimes I find something different and this tool saves me a lot of time.

Absolutely wonderful! The plug spider is something you never really need until you need it. When you need it, it can save you an incredible amount of time now that you are frustrated and your fingers are tired...

Can I use this to open a lock with out a lock pick gun or having to use a lock picking tool and simply use the plug spinner?

Great video. I've needed one a few times so I just ordered one from Peterson. It took me long enough to make up my mind on which one to get lol.

Still too fast, even using the 0.25x speed the frame speed was too slow to catch the actual rotation.

Now I'm off to order myself one.

Does a plug spinner still work on car door locks being that they’re wafer locks? It seems like they would be most helpful for car doors because its a 50/50 guess on car doors, because depending on manufacturers they all unlock a different way, and even different years of the same car can be different.

Hey dude. My friend! I have some new M1 and M5 and I can only pick CCW. My homemade spinner does not work on these. So I bought one offline. It does not spin them either. The spring in locks is too strong. Have you tried spinner with a new M1? I read that new ones have stronger springs.

What is the vise you're using in this video? New to locksmithing. Decided to dance in it as I'd already got into Automotive side of things given immobilizer work, locksmithing crossed paths in some ways as that led me to Automotive locksmithing.

More automotive I do the more people ask me to do residential.

I won't do commercial for the simple fact that in Automotive I do advanced diagnostics, oscilloscope and also general repair. With doing that I've got multiple scan tools, scopes, diag equipment, tools, tools and more tools so they can't sit idle while doing the commercial locksmithing stuff.

Also could you point me to a place to get some good strong very very hard to bend lock picks for diamond, raking, pick style. I've heard that streetsweeper brush wire works good but I think our streetsweepers around here must be lost as the longer I live here the less they sweep, crack seal for winter the streets. And they wonder why the streets are frostboiling, cracking out in the winter frost, cold, etc yearly the last several years.

Wasn't that way when we bought new years ago, around Feb 2001ish. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, pointers, ideas. Like the videos as well. Whew there's alot even just for residential but man it's keeping me sharp & on my toes.

When using the spinner, does it turn the core and bible (180 degrees) upside down? If not, how does the key pins interact with the driver pins. I don't understand how it can reverse the direction the key would turn to open the lock.

How do you find the Goso spinner, does it work well?

Interesting tool, but I think it would probably be better to learn how to avoid making a mistake than buying a tool to fix your mistakes.

Knowing which way to rotate the cylinder is step one to picking a lock. For doors, they generally rotate towards the door frame to lock, and away from the frame to unlock.
