To the GMV Editing Community,
I just wanted to take a moment to say how great it is to be in this community. I may not be the greatest at staying in touch with people, and I may not always be the most active, but I love being here- around people who understand what it is that we do.
And what do we do exactly? The average person would say we put pictures and videos to music. Well, that's the most basic and general definition. We create stories. We bring out emotion in people. We change the footage and give it new meaning. We see what a song means to us and transfer that to the game or anime.
Sometimes we advertise, trying to capture the real essence of the footage -- because it's a wonderful game or anime and we want more people to get a chance to experience it.
We love the characters so we make tributes to them, or we tell their life story in a song, or we give them a happy ending (or maybe a horribly sad ending, just because we want to make people cry).
And the pairings! The relationships! We celebrate the greatness of canon pairings, and give side pairings their time to shine. We do ridiculous things with crack pairings and crossovers; even Cloud and Princess Peach would be made possible (lol I can just see someone trying it now.)
And that's barely half of it.
We're artists who create masterpieces of color and sound; effects and transitions. Sure, we don't' create the footage, but like carvers with a block of wood, we cut the footage up until it transforms into something brand new.
Any person off the street can watch a video and see how it went with the music and say "that was good". When an avid AMV viewer sees it, they see the precision in the effects, the beautiful usage of the colorings and the overlays, and the flow of the footage with the song.
When a true editor watches a video, we see all that and more. We see that unique new font that somehow set the mood so much better. We see how high quality the footage was and suddenly rush to find out where the creator got it. Wow, that one mask was so clean even though her hair was waving around like she was in a hurricane (and we understand what a nightmare it is to mask.) That effect was so cool and we wonder what they used to pull it off. We see the hours, and days, and weeks it took to make the video and then perfect it. And we can probably estimate how many times vegas crashed during the making (or AE or WMM, etc...I'm pretty sure they all hate us).
Because we get it. And it doesn't mean we're better than the not-involved AMV watchers or the average people. We're just doing something we love (and if they left a nice comment or subscribed... that wouldn't be so bad). Still, we have our own community on Youtube and we've gone through all the late nights, the hiatuses, the bursts of inspiration that can lead to failure or success, and the program nightmares. Because of all these things, we get it; maybe we're the only ones who do. And that's why I love this community.
And I wanted to share what I wrote with everyone! The best way to do that is with a description. I know I usually talk about the editing process (and I have, if you follow the link) but this time I went with something different. I guess this video was the best place to put this description because most of my subscribers are (probably) editors :D So this description will probably get read a few times. I'd love for the editors in the community to read it since it's mostly about you. ^^ Thanks for being such a nice community!!
If you want to read this video's real description (the editing process, video info, and the thank you for my subscribers) follow the link because there's no room anymore ;--; Please enjoy my KH story/sokai video!
