A month before the movie was officially released in December 2015, it was screened to a terminally ill man. A massive Twitter campaign prompted the dying man’s request, with the hashtag #ForceforDaniel. He was diagnosed with cancer at Rowan Hill Hospice in Hampshire and was given only two months to live. The campaign garnered over 34,000 tweets and the attention of Disney executives, making Daniel’s dying wish come true. The studio arranged a screening of an unfinished version of the film for the Star Wars aficionado and his wife at his hospice.
