Growing up our family doctor was a lovely man of chinese descent called Dr Ling.
Years later we discovered his given name... He.

I once knew a man named Usain Bolt. Turned out he was a reasonably fast runner.

Sandi Toksvig is insanely clever and highly educated. I'm so glad they chose her to head the show.

I knew a mortician with the surname "Kill." He said he became a mortician because he couldn't be a doctor with a name like that.

While in the Army, we had a Sargent Skipper in charge of our platoon. We always told him he should have been in the Navy so he could have been Skipper Skipper.

I worked on a giant industrial boiler and the company that made the boiler was a German company called Viesmann. The boiler broke and the engineer was sent from Germany to England to work on it for us. His name was Bernie Hanz.

eterenally, my favorite case of nominative determinism is that there is a World Series of Poker champion by the name of Chris Moneymaker. While it originally referred to the fact that his family was physically minting silver and gold coins, there is certainly something artful about that name having taken a poker world title

Racing has some of the best ones - Jamie W(h)incup, Scott Speed, Will Power. If only we had an automotive enthusiast on the panel xD

The head of the judiciary in England and Wales from 2008-2013 being named Igor Judge has got to be the most extreme example of this

When I worked for a telecommunications company, a woman phoned up wanting to talk to a rep about services we provided. She worked in finance and her name was Lisa Loan.
Everyone ignored her for about a week because we all thought she was trying to prank us, until my manager sent us all an e-mail saying that Lisa Loan (lease or loan) was in fact a real person.

My last name is Langley and when I was younger i read about the Langley Aerodrome aircraft made by Samuel Pierpont Langley. Now I'm I'm aircraft maintenance engineer and I sometimes wonder if that's one of the factors that played into me choosing to follow this career. It's not quite the same as if my last name was "Plane" or something, but in the same realm of determinism.

I knew a lawyer named Mike Law, and a French accountant named Nicole Compte (Compte is the French word for account). I knew a man who sold recreational boats and he lived beside a river, and his name was Mr. Flood. I knew some people named Nunn and Monkman, but they were drunks and always getting into fights, so they were the opposite of their surnames.
