Montreal is Canada's largest French-speaking city, but is it a good place to learn French? This video discusses the pros and cons of choosing Montreal as a French-language learner. We'll get to the bottom of exactly how French the city is, and compare it to other places in Quebec on language, employment, and amenities.

All of the figures presented come from the 2016 census. When cities are mentioned, the figures are for the census metropolitan area (CMA).

Bilingualism rates for anglophones were calculated by comparing the number of people whose first official language is English to the number of people who currently only have knowledge of English.

If you are an immigrant and "non-white", Montreal is the best place to learn French as it is more diverse and there are other people from other countries learning French too. Unfortunately, other regions of Quebec are not as welcoming to foreigners so socializing as a non-French speaker will be tough.
