I have been really wanting to make tamales for a long time since I cannot find any place they sell it here in Japan...but I was always scared of the massive works that I might need to do alone. Now today I have the courage to do so, thanks to querida pocha concha Maya!

My family buys pre made maza at our local hispanic marked and we add cottage cheese, a can cream of corn, and some knorr (chicken bullion). It helps with the dryness.

My family being from Mexico old school. I'd always beg my grandma to help make the tamales or even food in general. And she would always say no. Its "womans work" then one year she finally let me learn and after that we would cook everything together. I love that woman. Taught me one of the best things in life. Hace todo con ganas y amor mijo.

In Sinaloa we also add Chile to the masa. It adds so much flavor and color to it. Congratulations Maya, I’ve never tried to make tamales on my own but I may give them a try
