Effects can take your synth sounds to a whole new level. If your synth doesn't have any built in FX, a great multi channel, multi effect system might be sitting in your pocket.

In this video:
1. Using Effects apps
2. Setting up multiple effects chains (iOS)
3. Setting up effects chains on multiple inputs (iOS)

Used in this clip:
Novation Circuit Mono Station
Arturia AudioFuse
iRig from IK Multimedia
PO-20 from Teenage Engineering
iPhone 7 Plus from Apple

As an addition to the FX, you can use the phone as a looper, with apps like loopy, or you could use some midi tools to get more out of you're hardware, for example I used midi-flow to play korgs volca sample melodically bye converting incoming notes into CC-values to control the pitch.

Help me understand the audio in and out of the iPhone? I am looking but not sure what I am seeing?

The MonoStation is very underrated. Don't sleep on it!

Another option for an interface is the Zoom H5 or H6, which of course will mainly function as a recorder/mixer.

Another great video :) I'm tempted to get the Audio Fuse, but they're like $1, 000 AUD here in Australia, which is really pricey - and I recently only purchased a Presonus Studio 192 :/

this video is excellent!!! I revamped my old ipad in order for a nice effect chain for my dawless setup. This works perfekt especially with the AUM/audioshare multichanel recording function together with the bundle of highend ios plugins. Thank you.

What’s the best iRig to use in this way these days? I don’t care to record into the iPad, just have a single synth dip in for fx and then dip out to my board/main audio interface.

Clips app on iphone with irig is also a great way to create videos when you record with filter backgrounds ! I used a few for my youtube channel 👍 you can litterally make a video

Is the input to the irig stereo? Or only mono in?

Hi loopop! Great vid thanx for making and sharing! I love using an Eventide H9 with my iPhone too. Also, I highly recommend a Roland Aira MX1 :) Even without using external gear, u can use Aum and its infinite mixbus combos to always make cool sounds! :)

any hints on what the pedal is in the mail? It is great to be able to uncover more capabilities without thinking you have to spend a ton of money or buy lots of expensive gear! How many of us have some old cell phones lying around that we could give new life to, just for effects or something similar. Can't think of hardware I could buy at the resale value of old iphones that add some much capability. A different way to think about this!

Would also love to see how to integrate multiple Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators into a traditional setup to take them from being idea geneating toys to part of a real setup.

Hey, do you mind explaining the routing for the multi-instrument section? I'm planning on doing this to hook up my circuit and circuit mono station to a focusrite scarlett 6i6 and my ipad pro and a any help would be appreciated! Great video.
