India's Chandrayaan-3 became the first space shuttle to land on the Moon's south pole yesterday and will now roam around the rocks and craters gathering crucial data and images to be sent back to Earth for analysis.

So is India now leading the way over the United States when it comes to Space? Author and astronomer Dr David Whitehouse joins TalkTV's Ian Collins to discuss.

When America goes to the moon they are technologically advanced while when India goes to the moon we are wasting money, the level of hypocrisy is just amazing 😂

The common theme across most news media in the UK about India's moon mission seems to be why India is exploring space science when there's so much poverty? Well why is US exploring the same when it has issues of massive homelessness and poverty ? Why is the UK given it's grim economy going for vanity projects like funding the Ukrainian war when it has skyrocketing homeless issue and increasing poverty? Maybe get out of the colonial mindset dear UK?!

India is not in any space race, ISRO just have own scientific objective and no one from ISRO declares that they wants to become space superpower, focus is on exploring new way to help human kind or limit the critical dependency, also ISRO is working with almost all countries.

Britain has more poverty in percentage than India according to world bank 😂😂😂😂😂 Britain is has about 17% extreme poverty while India has about 7%

Indias GDP is 3.75 trillion $ and their space budget is 1.5 billion $ only.
Indias space missions r known for ingenuity and extreme cost efficiency .

Indias ISRO earns dollars by launching foreign missions . British One Web Satelites were launched by ISRO .

USAs NASAs BUdget is 25 billion $. in a 27 trillion $ economy.

The Brits just can't digest that India can make such great strides on their own while their own nation lags behind. The western media providing biased opinions about poverty and lack of toilets without actual facts and care for their own nation's economic failings reeks of jealousy and snobbish attitude. It was a great stride for all humanity but all these people can think about is how can India, a supposed third world country, can carry out such a big mission.
I am so disgusted by the attitudes of these anchors. They are quick to praise even China for setting up a space program but not India and how they are achieving such amazing feats at such limited budgets showing the world that everything is possible with the right attitude and willingness to succeed. Kudos to ISRO! You guys are truly deserving

If the world's most prominent space power has to say that we are leading the space race then your country has achieved something very very significant. Congratulations india🇮🇳 🎉🥳🥳

Remember…. Nothing shames a Brit more than the success of India.

They get reminded about “aid” whenever they see India’s successful space program. It’s very revealing how much shame they feel when they see India’s succees (against their own failures and gradual progression into irrelevance).

So they need this kind of rhetoric about “aid” to diminish Indian’s pride and happiness.

It doesn’t matter that Indian gov has stopped taking aid. UK sends money to their NGOs and calls it “aid”.

I'm a FIlipino and have a respect to other space agencies, but I think India is not on a competition here, maybe they just want respect and recognitions and give importance to their achievements. Congrats India.

No one knows what US, USSR or China found in the moon. But when India sent chandrayaan-1 "we found proof of ice/water" back in 2008 since then India has plan to land on moon. If India were on the race we would have tried before we found water. but that was pointless for wise Isro.

PS:- Indian govt supported 1.25 Billion people in lockdown. India can very much feed its own people.

India is doing well in space because India is basically turning out be a country of great engineers. I am a professor of engineering at a US university, and what I find amazing is that the first and second tier institutes of India (such as IITs and NIITs) have access to very good students, who are well-trained in math and physics areas due to their preparation for competitive entrance exams such as JEE. In comparison, the US (along with UK perhaps) has not devoted enough effort on training students on hard math and physics due to a lack of good competitive exam structure. As a result, the US students are often ill prepared and afraid of hard math and physics. This was not the case in 1960s when US had the world famous engineering professors who taught students that were very good in math and physics, and who could do top-notch engineering.

The total cost of Chandrayaan 3 is Rs. 615 crore (US$74 million). This is less than the cost of Chandrayaan 2, which was Rs. 978 crore (US$141 million).

No doubt this is a monumental achievement and its also a great gesture by the Indian PM who dedicated this victory as belonging to the whole of Humanity. Signs of a future, wise superpower. Best wishes

Declining Britain still sends its pitiful aid to India in hopes of retaining some residual influence in India. That's the crux of the matter.
