Good video thank you....interesting analysis that the slight difference in the dimensions of the after market abutment clips was the cause of the squeaking brakes when you were backing up. I have the same problem, and I saved the original old OEM abutment clips the last time I changed out the pads, so next time that I inspect and clean the brakes I will use my caliper to compare the dimensions of the original OEM versus the aftermarket abutment clips..

On another note, I have heard that there are some mechanics that when it comes to brakes don't put lubricant on the the abutment clips, nor on the back surfaces of the pads that sit in the caliper. The reasoning is that while that lubricant is beneficial in the short run, but ultimately the lubricant quickly becomes saturated with brake dust, and thus becomes a sludge mixture which eventually dries out to be an encrusted grit on those components. And thereafter this dried out grit will actually limit the free travel one was hoping to achieve. So the alternate recommendation just to thoroughly clean all those surfaces that come in contact, so they are as smooth as possible and free of grit, and therefore the brake dust will keep shedding as one drives and will not convert to a dried out encrusted deposits, which is what we are always having to clean out when doing a brake job.. So, I'm going to experiment with only lubricating those components only on the brakes on one side of the car, and then compare and see if this turns out to be a better solution for less encrusted deposits. I would be interested in any comments as to what you or others may think as to the merits of this alternate solution.

I just bought new hardware for my wife’s car. It tends to squeak when backing up and when you’re moving forward at very very low speeds. Soon as the parts come in I’ll let you know!

I replace the clips like you did on my 2014 rav4 but the squeaking noise still there. New brake pads too. Still trying to figure out what’s wrong.

Man...just bought my 2018 RAV4 LE two months ago. Brakes whistle when brakes are half-pressed when coming to a stop at slow speeds. Sound also comes when traveling at a higher speed, but ride the brakes to a stop when exiting the thruway or something similar. Brought it into the dealer, claimed the rotors were rusty. Changed the rotors and put new pads on. Sound is still there. Through some research, apparently it may be a common 'normal' issue with Rav4 2012-2018 models. But im a little OCD and am fearful that it isnt a simple non-issue whistle sound ... I feel it may be a caliper sticking, but like to think the dealer would have corrected that if that was the issue. Im at a loss. No idea what it can be.

Its ok to drive if you cant change those pins? Since i change my brakes pads and rotors Sound comes when i back, driving some type cliking sound from pedal. Brake pedal lil low. I checked brakes from local tire shop franchise mechanic said brakes r good. I hope its ok to drive like that.

Bro if this works for mine you saved me diagnostic time! Just got a 2013 RAV4 and it only makes rear brake noise while backing up. Squeak and a tiny grind sound. Is fine moving forward. I’ll update my experience once I tackle it so others can see my symptoms as well. Did yours make a slight grind noise too while braking in reverse?

Gods video. You didn’t mention torque specs for calipers. That’s a big thing for me as I ALWAYS torque to the service manual specs, especially on the RAV4 as it’s my wife’s. Rather not have any doubts.
Front Brackets: 72’ LBS
Caliper: 25’LBS
Banjo: 22’LBS
Lug nuts: 76’LBS
Rear Is same.
