The real story of Hello Kitty is a scary urban legend about the origin of the popular Japanese cartoon character. They say that Hello Kitty is demonic and was originally a product of devil worship and a satanic pact.
According to the legend, Hello Kitty was created back in the 1970s by a Chinese woman. Apparently, her 14-year old daughter was disagnosed with cancer of the mouth. The doctors told the mother that her child was terminally ill and there was nothing they could do for her.

The mother refused to give up hope and visited every church in the city to pray for her daughter. When that didn’t work, she came to the end of her rope. The desperate mother became involved with satanic rituals and devil worship. They say that, in order to save her daughter’s life, she made a pact with the devil himself.

For curing her daughter’s cancer, the devil demanded only one thing in return. She would have to create a cartoon character that would appeal to children all over the world. The devil wanted to use the popularity of this cartoon character to trick people into worshipping Satan.

When her daughter recovered from her cancer, the mother kept her promise to the devil. She created Hello Kitty.
As the story goes, Hello Kitty was designed with no mouth because the daughter had cancer of the mouth. Hello Kitty’s pointed ears represent the Devil’s horns. The word “Kitty” means “Demon” in Chinese. So “Hello Kitty” really means “Hello Demon”. They say that anyone who buys Hello Kitty merchandise is welcoming the Devil into their hearts. Satanists all over the world use Hello Kitty as a secret symbol and many of them actually tattoo the image on their skin. Devil Worshippers refer to Hello Kitty as “The Daughter of the Devil.”

However, in 1999, a brutal murder took place in Hong Kong. It later became known as the “Hello Kitty murder”. Three men kidnapped a young woman and kept her captive in their apartment for a month. They tortured her and then murdered her. It was known as the “Hello Kitty Murder” because the killers cut off the victim’s head and hid it inside a Hello Kitty doll… Now, that’s a true story.

I dont know where people get this version of Hello Kitty from. In Vietnam, the story that I most commonly heard was this.

There was a Japanese girl whose parents were always busy with work. She wanted to talk to people. but she had nobody to talk to. All her friends either rushed to after school classes or head to internet cafe. Gradually, she grew to be introverted, shy and withdrawn. Consequently, she was bullied at school.

One afternoon, after being bullied by her classmates, she ran to the nearby park and cry while sitting on a bench. An old man saw her and went to sit down besides her.
"Little girl, school has ended, why arent you going home. Why are you crying here?" He asked

The girl sobbed even louder:
" I dont wanna go home. Nobody listens to me when I am at home."
" Okay, I will listen to you."

The girl pour out all the frustrations and misery she has endured. The man simply sat and listen, without saying a word of judgement, he just listen. After she was done, he simply said everything was going to be fine and that she should go home.

From then on, she went to the park every single day and talk to the old man about everything. What upsets her, what cheer her up, how her day was like and the man simply sat and listen. Over time, she changed. She became less shy and more assertive.

Until one day, she got beaten by her fellow classmates. She was frail and weak, so she couldnt fight back so she rushed to the park to talk to the old man. Unfortunately, she didnt pay attention to the surrounding so she got hit by a car and pass away.

The old man, upon hearing the news of the little girl passing away, went to the park to burn a paper figurine. That was meant to be the present for the little girl had she didnt die that day. The model was that of a white cat with big round eyes and no mouth. He wanted the cat to forever stay by her side and listen to all she has to say without ever uttering a word of judgement.

Since then, the figure sat on the desk of every Japanese student, which is now known as Hello Kitty - the cat made with the purpose of listening to other people.

I translated this from Vietnamese so some part might not sound natural, but this is the origin of Hello Kitty that I am aware of.

For yall thinking this is real, its not, the video’s creator addressed this more recently in a video stating that yuko created hello kitty without a mouth in order for people to project their own emotions onto her. I think this is kinda a cool thing, explains why i can always feel that i relate to her regardless of how im feeling. My melody is my fav sanrio character tho, i have my melody tattooed on my shoulder and my room is completely decorated with hello kitty and my melody
