For 1930, those are very decent special effects! In sci-fi it is clearly a VERY old idea that "in the future", everyone has flying vehicles. Compare how Back to the Future II showed a "2015" where cars are flying. But getting there for real has proven difficult. Gravity is gravity, in 1930 as in 2020.
