So emotional. He’s actually shaking while playing the piano. Amazing performance. So…human.

I was on an offshore drilling rig off the coast of Angola the first time I heard this song. In 45 seconds I reduced to tears. Back in 2000, my father lost his battle with his demon and died of cirrhosis. Ever since that time, I stayed angry at him for the torment his alcohol abuse inflicted on his family. This song slapped my face and made me realize that nothing positive was coming from me holding on to that anger for decades and understanding that none of us is without imperfections. My family deserves better. I forgive you dad!

Such a CRIMINALLY Underrated artist. People got stuck in "You're Beautiful" and missed out on an amazing catalog filled with emotional masterpieces.

My dad was an imperfect man, with an imperfect son. The line "I know your mistakes and you know mine" hits me hard. My dad died in hospice or cancer, and I was fortunate enough to be by his side when he did, and this song speaks to me like nothing else, like it was written just for us. I love you dad, and thank you James.

He's definitely underrated as an artist, and his father must be really proud of him after hearing this song

His hands shaking while playing the piano... good Lord. Shows that none of us are above grief. And he still gave a beautiful performance through his pain. Just amazing, thank you James

"We're just 2 grown man saying goodbye", that phrase hit so damn dip, I used to have long conversations with my father about death, his last years weren't his bests, he distanced himself from the family and made some huge mistakes, but in the end, we were 2 grown man saying goodbye, farewell dear old man

I defy anyone to get through this song without weeping. This is James Blunt at his best.

I lost my dad over 20 years ago he passed away alone
I told my brothers and sisters and mum I was with him .
I told them that to try and make it a little less painful,
Iv suffered from depression every since,
Mums gong now and I miss them so much,
Dad I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you

Iam Tongi brought me here due to his emotional performance on multiple occasions so i was curious. I find this and i see James literally shaking while playing this live.... Whew! You don't have to be an empath to feel either the original or any cover, this is a powerful song...

This is the song we chose to carry dad from the funeral service to the hearse before his burial.
I’m not emotional whatsoever (normally), I didn’t think I had a heart, but pretty sure the ache I get in my chest when this tune plays means something is going down…(spoke to Dorothy and I’m not the Tin Man…)
Miss you Dad x

The fact that he can perform through that much pain is incredible to me.

James doesn't need auto tuning his voice is pure and raw. A pure talent he has not been given the opportunity he deserves. He writes from his soul and life experiences. Listen to no Bravery he was on the front line during the Kosovo war. How many singer/song writers have done that!!!
