I'm pretty sure Mami and Kyoko _do_ have that same connection in other timelines.

When Sayaka fights Kyoko in the original show, she starts saying that magical girls like Kyoko are the reason Mami died. Even though she doesn't finish the sentence, Kyoko figures it out and gets very angry. It's subtle but it's proof they knew each other.

Plus the different story is really good, believe it or not I first read it in middle school. At the time I first saw the original anime a few months prior and turns out the different story was in the school's library. I then proceeded to devour it and buy it for myself, and I'm pretty glad I bought it because the french version is pretty much impossible to find nowadays.

I liked the more tactical way to fight witch and some dynamics between mami and kyouko relationship, but for me wraith arc was less filler than this, but I’ve get that the thing that I like the most on the series are different from yours and I think that madomagi is great for the polyhedric approach so I resign to making you feel what I feel, at this point I no longer find it constructive

Very underrated story and in my opinion it should be adapted to small screen instead of mediocre Magia Record or trying to continue already finished story with awful Rebellion and it's upcoming sequel. In some ways Diffrent story was the only good prequel I'm aware off and I have no idea why Aniplex and Shaft are so allergic to it? Is it a rights issues?
