It's easy to forget how good NBA players are until you start watching others, and realize the talent level isn't even close

For a lot of people it’s the storylines and underdog stories which attract them to march madness and make them more memorable

but the shit like amir “aura” khan, dj burns, and storylines like those is what makes march madness so fun

It really doesn’t help that sports commentators are really ragging on the NBA over the past few years and a lot of the old heads are saying the NBA is a bad product. It is literally the only league where I don’t hear very much praise.

By that very same standard, CBB is an even more broken product but nothing bad is ever said about them. If anything, it’s all praise especially during March. You listed all the points of why CBB is a more watch for the old school style basketball instead of NBA being seeing as a 3pt contest NBA game. I agree with you completely and I’m very saddened that the NBA is painted is such a strange light.

Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Lebron... honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the paint and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth touch around the rim, and that gorgeous jumpshot. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire. You had a rough childhood, but you never gave up hope. You are even amazing off the court, you're a great husband and father, sometimes I even call you dad. I forever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my own life it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. I remember when you first left clevenland and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you win your first ring in miami, because deep down, my glorious king deserved it. I just wanted you to return home. Then allas, you did, my sweet baby boy came home and I rejoiced. 2015 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2016 you made history happen. You came back from 3-1 and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "CLEVELAND, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed the game of basketball and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I love you pookie bear, my glorious king, Lebron James.

Part of the "college hoops is better" crowd is people who stopped watching the NBA because they complained it was too "woke" (pride night, BLM).

His take is basically: NBA has better skill which makes it more entertaining for those who like to watch good basketball.

I’d like to start off and say that entertainment quality is extremely subjective. While his statement may be true for some, it’s a lazy statement with very little evidence to back it up.

On average, March Madness has more viewers than the NBA playoffs. The NBA is rarely the most watched sport in the USA while other sports are going on. You know why? It has too many games where players don’t show up and still get paid…

Additionally, teams start to tank long before the season is even over. Tell me how fun it is watching a tanking team over a competitive college basketball game?

The reason is because it brings unpredictably. Not because the college kids are better but because sometimes the craziness that comes from college is more interesting than the nba. In college you never know but in the nba crazy unpredictable stuff happening is rare

I totally agree. Watching St Johns and Clemson throw up bricks was annoying in itself for my bracket, but especially because it was just poor basketball. The thrill of upsets and that energy is better than the NBA, but the consistency of the NBA and player quality is why it’s better.

They do care more in March madness tho, a lot of guys playing there last games with their school just makes it more emotional

As a basketball person, I like to watch a moving offense, and not just a bunch of iso ball ending with a 30ft step back 3. Yeah the NBA has some really exciting moments, and as a bucks fan Giannis is just fascinating to watch with his athleticism, I would much rather watch the more fundamental, methodical game of college basketball. The level of grit and grind in college is also much higher than the NBA. Yes the NBA guys are more athletic and able to get a high rebound or fly in and dunk on a dude, but the battle down low for positioning is much more entertaining in the long run than the one highlight dunk followed by a bunch of dudes watching the shot go up and no one fighting for the rebound 8/10 times.

The NBA is much more skilled and yes in theory, should be more entertaining, but watching teams shoot 40+ threes a night is a bad product in my opinion. Not saying the NCAA tournament is better, but it just feels like the young men are putting their all into it and have such a passion for the game. The NBA just feels like it’s just a job to some of the guys, not something they’re passionate about.

I used to be heavily on the nba is better side until I got to college, for me now it’s not even close, college feels more physical, WAY better atmosphere which makes it more exciting to watch for me, for people who didn’t go to big athletic schools I can see why they think the NBA is better though

I’ve been watching both for ~50 years, and I agree.

Tune into the BYU game brother. Their NBA style is phenomenal to watch. Coupled with the single elimination and the extra hustle it’s absolutely phenomenal.

I have been an NBA fan my whole life, but this new era is hard to watch just absolutely no defense and no effort.
If you want to watch some good competitive game of basketball, then watch college.
If you want to watch some dude score 60, watch the NBA.

NBA players could care less whether they win or lose. Some college players ball their eyes out if they lose in March Madness. March Madness is so much more exciting than the NBA

If the NBA would pick up the want to win like kids do in college, the NBA would be so exciting. The studs that step up in march madness imagine them but 2-3x better than that, and then imagine that’s literally every player and then you got the NBA.

Side note my opinion of the most entertaining basketball I’ve watched, is the prime Chino Hills team in high school. Those guys truly cared, and I loved the fast paced plays.
