Please use jack stands and not a single hydraulic floor jack to support a car for extended periods of time.

This just blew the old way I learned right out of the water! Thanks man 🙏

Neat set up. On most vehicles... A gravity bleed, pump, gravity bleed, pump, gravity again works great, w one person. Also, depends on abs system. Some systems require a bleed procedure w a scan tool to eliminate all air.

Air bubbles always want to rise so put the bottle above the caliper to use less brake fluid

The only issue with this is there is no guarantee all of the air will be pushed far enough out of the tube to prevent that same air being pulled right back in when the brake pedal is released. This is especially true because the air bubbles tend to travel upwards, so if the hose is hanging with the end in the bottle being the lowest point it is actually more likely for the bubble to remain in the hose close to the bleeder nipple ready to be pulled back into the caliper upon release than it would be for the bubble to travel all the way down the hose and into the bottle. Is there is only air at the beginning/right behind the bleeder then plenty of fluid behind it to push that air out of the tube then this will work, but you won't know that unless you are watching as it bleeds or put a camera on it then watch later. The only way to prevent air pulling back in would be with a one way valve, but that defeats the purpose of doing any of this in the first place, in that case you would just let it bleed into any recepticle. There are other methods such as power bleeders that are more reliable than this method.

You could also put a zip tie on the bleeder end of the tube. Not cranked down of course. Helps the tube stay still. Chrisfix has a vid on it lol

A better way to avoid air getting sucked in the system is to simply just hang the hose anywhere above the bleeder valve so if any air gets sucked by the hose then it will stay up at the highest point of the hose away from the valve. You don't need to waste new brake fluid like in the video and besides it is a complete nonsense because there is air already in the hose even after dipping it in brake fluid and that air would still probably crawl back up to the bleeder valve especially when using a larger hose.

You can gravity bleed them. I always start with a good gravity bleed then have a bud help me with the last few pumps of conventional bleeding. The gravity bleed will get them 90% done. Just throw a drip tray down, fill the res, open the bleeders and walk away just check and refil the res every once and a while.

I tape a magnet to the side of the bottle and stick it to the caliper and use a shorter hose setup

If you have to do this then only push the brake pedal down halfway. If there’s any corrosion in the brake master cylinder (the older the car the worse it is) it will be in the second half of the stroke. That corroded surface will rip the piston seals and then you will need a master cylinder rebuild or just a new one. That’s not fun to replace as I learned the hard way.

or use a pressure bleeder...and open and close the valve into the bottle once its running clean again

You still need to remove the air, all this does is make the same bit of fluid go into the bottle then back into the system when you release the pedal.

just make sure the highest point of the tube is higher than the bleeder valve.

You don't need to pour in brake fluid and waste new fluid.
Just make sure the tube is at the very bottom so as soon as fluid comes out it submerges the tube.
Done it that way for years never had a problem

Thank you so much ive been needing to figure out how to do this myself

Some cars can also be bled using gravity

Bottle should be higher than bleed screw air goes up.
