Peace keeping troops, yeah right. Clearly the invasion has lasted several years now. First he sends in the so called Russian rebels. Today he claimed the two cities indepented republics. The last move of the invasion is by claiming he has the right to provide military help with peace keeping troops like he did with Kazakhstan. Very similar to the move he did with Crimea, except this time the two cities are declared independent republics by him.

The only meaningful "forceful response" that could deter an all out invasion: send Ukraine air defense systems, anti-ship defense systems, anti-tank missiles and drones, as well as logistical intelligence support from US satellites.

What is Putin referring to when he says he's taking "retaliatory" measures? What's he retaliating against? No one has done anything to him. He's just lined up thousands of troops, out of the blue, with no provocation whatsoever.

The big take-away from Putin's speech yesterday is that Russia is demanding respect from the West, especially after Russia placated the West in the 1990s with its withdrawal from Germany, but the West did not reciprocate, but expanded NATO along Russia's border. Actions speak louder than words.
