Honestly, can I say this has been one of your better videos because this is the first time I have seen a video of yours where there was plainly no shilling. The lack of Jimmy Complain also was refreshing because the only thing he does when he comes on your video is literally talks down to the console you are trying to be a proponent for while adding very little to your videos. This was well thought out, well organized and pretty objective. I think if you could do more videos like this and less of the shilling / speculative no sources rambling - your channel would do better.

Is this why they upped the price of gamepass today? 😭😭😭

I bought the firetv ethernet adapter and it works great. No stutter no lag.

It's the future because the price of entry is much lower, the device is much smaller, and you need to pay forever.

edit: many replies seem to think that I approve of the pay-forever model. I was being sarcastic, seeing it from the point of view of the companies who control the hardware. Whatever they decide becomes the new normal, which is why I hate the new generations of consoles.

At about 17:40, you mention that you can not connect via ethernet...but with an adapter you can connect the firestick to ethernet. Still not sure if it would make a difference, but it is available.

It's crazy that they don't allow for an ethernet connection. WiFi is disrupted by too many sources, and often comes with the added benefit of high latency.

This is 100% an advertisement for X-Cloud / Fire Stick

You gotta use the right power adapter for the fire stick, it's notoriously finicky with power. The TV USB power could be as low as 500 mah. Fire stick will use way more power than that at idle, adding in Bluetooth, wifi and streaming and decoding, that firestick is being pushed to its limits. The wired Ethernet solves Internet lag, but it also has its own beefier power supply. It fixes a lot of issues since the power is coming from that.

Tbh, using a rather simple HDMI adapter for a game streaming subscription service isn't the worst idea I heard in recent times, largely depending on pricing of course.
Input lag is still unforgivable.

I have had an 85" Samsung TV with this Xbox feature built in . Having the ethernet connected to my TV still does not fix the Input lag . The input lag is caused by BT signal interference between the remote and the device, which can be fixed with placement of electronic devices around the play space.

Make sure you use something like wifi analyzer and select a free channel on your router. You only get lag and glitches when a neighbours wifi is overlapping yours on the same channel. Also have everything else in your home connect using the 2.4ghz and keep the 5ghz band for your firestick only. Setting the frequency to 80mhz will also give you more throughput. The fire stick also has MU-MIMO so turn that on in your router too, it usually only works when you turn 80mhz on first. Basically dial in your wifi connection and you'll have an almost seamless experience

The lack of the full gamepass library is another issue that I have with the Xbox app

What they don't tell you about streaming Xbox Games is that it works best via a 5Ghz wireless how it's meant to be played !!

It will work via a 2.4Ghz wireless network BUT it won't run anywhere near as smooth and it'll have more lag etc. etc. !!

I assume the controller is connected via Blutooth, not the 2.4GHz proprietary signal? That would explain a lot of the lag. I can see it work as a supplement to your Xbox console, in cases like the one you mentioned in this video. But having people pay $20 a month to get the Ultimate tier to have THIS as their primary experience would be a tough sell. I wouldn't want this to be my introduction into gaming either, as the lag might mess with your head and make you believe that games are simply not for you. I tried the NVidea Shield with GeForce Now a while ago, and even though I hooked it up via ethernet cable, the additional lag introduced by connecting my Controller with Blutooth made gaming unenjoyable for me, once I plugged it in it did improve significantly but still suffered from the odd hitch, so I ended up sending it back. My favorite remote game experience is Playstation Remote. I got my Playstation plugged directly into my router and the router is plugged into my PC then the controller is plugged into my PC as well. It works, I don't have to buy any additional devices and it's not hidden behind any subscription paywalls.

If Microsoft wanted this so badly just turn our TVs into consoles outright.

They sent you 12 MONTHS to TEST IT?!?!?!

The biggest thing about input delay on a device like this is wireless network simply isn't stable enough for cloud gaming just yet. With a wired connection I'm sure it runs great, but otherwise I imagine it's very inconsistent.
