Cutting Back My Poinsettia

My poinsettia has retained its red leaves from Christmas right through to the end of July. But its now time to cut it back hard so that it will produce strong new growth ready for its flowering next Christmas. Usually I cut it hard back in April or May, but its red leaves lasted a lot longer this year, so I have waited until the end of July.

Thanks for watching

this was so helpful. I've had mine in the pot for about 4 years. Now I know for me, it's time to cut it back and repot. Thanks.

Mine stay green all year long. I saw online that if you remove them from the sun for 14 hours per day, they'll turn red again. But as long as it's not harmful to my plants, I don't mind them being green.

I did do this on two Poinsettias and they both grew back more bushy and in my opinion better looking :D

Only just found this. Great video! I cut my plant right back and I can see new growth coming which is encouraging. One question - how much should I water at this stage, with no leaves yet? It has a sunny spot on a window sill until about 13:00 on the south coast of England. I assume it doesn't need so much water until there are more leaves, is that correct?

Thanks for the video! Question, my poinsettia has grown too tall, do I cut it back like this? I don't necessarily care for it to bloom, it's just really leggy and tall. Thanks!!

Could one propagate from the clippings?

Hi, did the Poinsettia grow back?

I have some questions please. I have a 3 year old one which has never been cut back. It is in our downstairs bathroom. It is quite tall and is in need of a prune.

I have repotted it. I am not an expert. Can I still cut it back now? If I cut it back now (2nd August 2020) when would it start to grow back? Should I also prune it to the length in your video?

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi just wondering how your poinsettia has been getting on since you pruned it in July?
