Morganza Spillway, Old River Control Structure Just Before 2019 Opening

Took a drive to look at the Atchafalaya and Mississippi Rivers and the flood control systems prior to June 2019 opening. Surprised at the size of the Mississippi and also the thousands of asian carp swimming upstream at the old river control structure (at about 8 minutes on vid.)

That first bridge he crossed over is at Krotz Springs. I used to deer hunt that area. I, too lived thru Betsy, Hilda and Camille, in New Orleans very near the river for that one.Grew up in Morganza in fact. Cajun Navy...good for you sir.Used to crawfish in the spillway also. Whiskey Bay on I 10 is the most dangerous bridge I've ever driven over; every year at least 1 fatality happens there...not a good place for a breakdown (no shoulder and steep grade with a blind crest).
