Should totally make a video about C1 travel partners in detail about the alliances so people can learn how to fly domestic. Think would help people ❤ keep up up the great work John!

Also, hands up if you think they should just be called Capital One points

John great video. Extra tips, if you are using the c1 travel portal you should book with cash and use the points/miles to erase the travel purchace. You will still get 10x on hotels or 5x airfare on the purchase, it will make the points worth 1.1c or 1.05c when you erase the purchase. The VX 300 dollar travel will earn miles for travel purchases in the c1 travel portal, example purchasing 300 dollars in hotel stays will get you 3k miles or 1.5k for flights.

I tend not to use the over priced one-way ticket price, in most cases round trip is required. Flying Turkish air round trip from Boston to Manilla is around 5700 dollars((5700/2)-400 fee-142 dollars in lost rewards= a good realistic ~3.4c per points).

My best ever redemption for my Capital One Miles was transferring them to AirFrance/Flying Blue Business class flights to Paris, just like you mentioned!

Would have cost me over $12, 000 for my family but I got well over 5 CPP. Thankfully kids tickets are 25% cheaper with points so that saved me quite a bit! Great video John!

Ok I think there’s one thing that needs to be addressed for cpp from transfer partners. Since you’re looking at least a year out, the flight prices in dollars are super inflated… like by 50-200%. So if you were to actually wait until a good booking time (which capital one does in their travel portal), it will look less like the crazy 5-10 cpp that is often quoted for these deals. That being said, it’s still 2-4 cpp typically, so definitely still the best way to redeem, but not exactly always the home run like people say

This is so helpful, i'm getting a Venture X this month. Please do also make the dedicated video on Capitol One transfer partners and how best to utilize them for domestic and international travel. That's the main thing i can never get my head around is how to know which ones are best to transfer to when and in what scenarios and such.

It would be good if you mentioned that this miles game almost always works exclusively for Business/First class tickets. If you don't care about the flight and just want to go economy, it hardly ever makes sense because the final cost in miles will be higher than just buying with cash.

will.

Would love to see a video using CapOne miles to fly domestic for a good value

The Venture X is one of my favorite cards and I think the credits are some of the easiest to use. The Premier Collection is also pretty cool as well!

I have done EXTENSIVE research on the transfer miles method to redeem my own Capital One Miles for a real trip (not a hypothetical one-way to Paris) my 45, 000 miles will pay for a $900 flight AFTER paying $370 in taxes and fees. ($530 value)

Yes you can get some value out of this if you have a huge amount of points and want to worry about booking flights thru specific agencies. Just please know it is not NEARLY as rewarding as the paid promotion says it is.

Great video! I just redeemed 70K Avios for business class Q-suites with Qatar at a 12.56 CPP, and then another flight to Oslo on Qatar at 6.25 CPP. This was my first ever award booking so I'm ecstatic!

this is the most useful 15 minutes I've spent on learning about how to maximize my venture card points. save me hours of figuring out how to use transfer partners and the benefits. would LOVE a PART 2 of this video focusing on the details on how to book trips to Asia in business class.

I would also talk about the opportunity cost of spending so many miles on business class fares. If you blow 70, 000 miles on one single flight, you should be also calculating. What is the opportunity cost of that? How many economy flights could I have redeemed for that, same number of miles? Let’s say the answer is you can book a single economy flight for 20, 000 miles. That means in my head when you blow 70, 000 miles that has an actual cost of around $700 of lost opportunity.

Those transfer partners can provide some killer value if you find the right bookings!! I've found some good value in Capital One's travel portal as well, but at the end of the day, transfer partners are almost always the best way to go as you displayed here. Nice video John!

As a 20 year old who just go into the credit card game your videos are a HUGE help! You’re the reason I decided to do business with Capital one and this was just the video I needed! Thank you so much! Keep up the great videos and thanks for helping me create the perfect trio of Capital one Venture X / Savor one & Citi custom cash. Also PLEASE make that in depth video of Capital one transfer partners for international flights 🙏🙏🙏

Just wanted to thank you for this!! I booked a flight from IAD to OSL business class for next year!! The CPP is 9.7!!!

The taxes and fees were cheaper than an economy flight there!!!

Thank you!!!
EDIT:

I wanted to update this because that was only half the flight. I have what I purchased on the reply below but according to the CPP calculator, My CPP is 10.57!! THAT IS AMAZING!!

2 and 3 should be swapped right? Since you gain miles when purchasing the travel expense, then use miles to counter that expense later. Still close to 1 mile per cent but slightly better
