Did you know that the first programmer in the history of computer science was a woman? Here's the story of Ada Lovelace, who wrote the first ever program while she was working with Charles Babbage on the Analytical Engine.

I came across your video, here, because I was looking up Ada Lovelace for information to include in a pro-Ada essay. I am an Ada programmer and have been for a number of years. It was a point in my essay that I believe Ada should be every english speaking programmer's first computer programming language, even if they never pursue its use thereafter, because it teaches solid programming habits that can only improve their contributions for the rest of their programming investments in life. I have coded in a number of languages, studied many more, and worked on and off as a programmer. It has been my experience that Ada is still around because enough people see it irrefutable value, especially in projects or machines that last more than a decade, and seek to benefit from it. If there is any language I consider close to Ada in programming potential it would be Red, but that language is far from use-ably complete and Ada is capable of integrating with existing code from close to a half-dozen languages. I feel exuberant about your mention of Ada and her contributions and I would enjoy seeing women as effective programmers with a language that deserves attention and use as Ada does.

This is awesome! I just watched it with my six year old daughter. She thinks it is so cool that the first computer scientist was a woman. She also wants me to tell you that she likes your hair.

So let me this straight. The guy who made the computer never tested it with a program that it was made to compute?
