Jannis mentioned that burning a secret is as if you're making it public to everyone, which is how I envisioned it as well and I love that thematically.

Additionally, I love that you can exchange secrets for favor or favor for secrets. It fits similarly to the thematic examples you (Jamey) bring up and I think it's clever how Cole Wherle can account for nearly everything in his games. A lot of times I'll look at a games mechanic and think "that's really cool, but how does it make thematic sense? I guess it works like this...sort of?". But with Cole's games it seems like he makes everything fit perfectly together.

I love this game and I wish I would have gotten into this hobby sooner so I could have bought the Kickstarter

The "lost" secrets, thematically, could represent a secret that got public and is no longer a secret

I am currently designing a game about the pantheons of different mythologies and the 2 main resources in it are Devotion (which represents faith in the gods) and Glory (which represents heroism and prowess!) I have had a lot of fun working the thematic implementations of these resources into the mechanics!!
As an example, when you lose a battle you have to surrender resources to your opponent! but specifically you have to give up your glory first, then if you have no more glory you must give up your devotion. So essentially if you’ve lost enough battles, then you begin to lose your faith 😣

If you have to spend a secret it is like making it public: If everybody knows about it, it is no longer of any value. :)
I love the way they use the cards on the board as a public shared resource to perform actions! sometimes you have action points, coins and books but not enough cards to put them on at your locations. Its kind of a 3rd dimension of resource management.

Oh... hey... tell me about that cat litter box mechanic! Does the hole work and prevent excess litter outside the box?

I think it is called "Favor", but if you don't tell the Chancellor, I won't tell either. Us exiles must stand together to have a chance at usurping the Throne 😁 It's going to be our little secret

When is something not a secret? When everyone knows it.
