Thumbnail made by me (the photo quality is horrible and I couldn't enhance it).

Apparently this was a different date than the official release.

In this performance we can see a very different version to the one we would have later on the album "The Stranger". The audio quality is very good and I think it's not here on YouTube. So that's why I decided to upload it.

Thanks for watching, if you liked this, give it a thumb up and subscribe for more!

great song. I can see this being belted out on stage in a Broadway Musical. Could be the theme for the Billy Joel Movie - When's that happening? What a classic New York Story.

I love Phil Ramone and truly believe that if it wasn’t for him than we wouldn’t have Billy Joel all these years later. He was the perfect producer to get the best out of Billy and his band in the studio and the only guy who could have gotten translated what ever concert reviewer said about how great Billy was to vinyl.

All that said, this is the one song of all the Ramone songs that, to me, is clearly superior before he got his hands on it. This is raw and beautiful and it doesn’t need the gospel remake to get the emotion out of it. It’s just so much better stripped down and just letting Billy cook. I just never bought 29 year old “gospel Billy”. River of Dreams at 44 made more sense.

Anyway. Long way around saying this is amazing and thank you!

This was always my favorite version of this song. The outro is just absolutely gorgeous. Very nostalgic sounding.

This is legitimately amazing. I hope 2022 is the year of Joel bootlegs. How cool would it be if the Turnstiles original recordings were found?

Do you have anymore from this concert? I see this was from a different date than the official release, but do you know if there are more songs from the official release that didn't make the cut?
