I remember when I rolled mine out of the showroom! Those stock rims lasted about a week for me 😂!

That thing is absolutely mint!

It was a little heavier with that paint scheme because they were using some DX. It came with a black BMX style seat with exposed metal brads in back, other than that, looks like it was spec’d (Can’t believe with orig tie clips !) I screwed up and misplaced my flip flop and rigid, but I do have the mag 20 that was available for the first time that year.

My GT Karakoram is black. I've owned it since new, April 1992. Its maintenance has been kept up with. I immediately upgraded nearly everything except the crank and bottom bracket. It rolls down the road on a 1st gen Answer Manitou fork. Amazingly, the crank and bottom bracket are still completely original.
Your nearly 100% original bike is amazing!

I have both a 1992 Pantera AL Inferno Red (my second one) and a 1992 Bravado in Screaming Yellow, now a nice 1992 Karakoram would be a nice addition as the Tequila Sunrise is like both colours in one! I love the 1992 GT bikes. My first GT was the green 1992 Timberline and replaced it with the Inferno Red Pantera AL when the Timberline got stolen! Unfortunately the Pantera got stolen too! When I lost my Pantera in 1993 I bought another Timberline of that same year in Daktari White (as shown in the 1992 catalogue). Fast forward to May 2024 when I had the opportunity to by a red Pantera again, which I still have. Last August I bought a 1992 GT Bravado frame and fork and built it up and it's now my favourite bike, it is fast a light to ride. I managed to buy the matching GT FlipFlop stem from the guy I bought the Bravado frame+forks from. I am very happy to be the owner of such a great bike! The Bravado has the True Temper GTX Ultra III frame and sit two models up from the Karakoram in the line up. I may do a video of it and share !

Late 80s and 90s GTs are the best looking hardtails ever. They look fast standing still. I had the Daktari White Avalanche. Best looking bike I ever had. Broke the frame unfortunately or Id probably still have it.

I missed out on a red and blue Giant Rincon in a classified ad from 1994 last year . I saw it and it looked like it had been kept indoors and hardly used . It turned into an auction due to several expressions of interest in it . I sat on it before other people arrived moments later and fell in love with it straight away . Lucky I have the black and blue Yukon, it's cousin from the same year .

I bought this exact same bike in 1992, joined the Army in 1993..took it with me to Germany then Italy…sadly it was stolen in Italy in 1998 😢 - I just found one on eBay (all original and looks almost mint) cannot wait till I get it!! Found Onza bar ends as well will be looking just like my old one…

I just found it's twin at a thrift store today, 16" frame, a little small for me but it was all original, not quite as clean as that one in video but a score just the same. Thanks for the great video.

I’ve got a Karakoram from 89. The grey splatter paint. Trying to restore it to original now. I put a lot of miles on it when I was younger. Lots of parts have been changed. Trying to track down original stuff.

The quill stem on the Karakoram was like the one on my old Outpost but the main disadvantage of the design was that the compression cap and allen bolt had to be periodically tightened slightly unlike the later AHEADSET system .

I have the same one in blue/black! I like your color scheme much better! I recently switched it to 1x7. I want to switch the bars and stem to something more ergonomical. I was thinking of trying to fit an alloy Ibis bar from my Ripmo and try to find a 50 mm stem that will work. Maybe you have some suggestions? Thanks

I once owned the Outpost from that same year . My 1993 Richter had Rockshox Judy XC forks .

These are the kind of bikes I love finding, low miles and stored inside. LOVE these early 90's GTs and their paint jobs.

I didn't know these had a replaceable der. hanger. What's up with those adjuster knobs on the dropouts? Never seen those with vertical drops.

I had an anodised pink Zaskar and it was very nice .

I have this exact bike, and it’s in top Nick, with the onza bar ends. Had it for my 13th Christmas off my grandma, I just can’t part with it

What should I be searching for to buy a replacement rear brake? I ended up with this frame set, but no rear brake. Already made the mistake of thinking it was a standard cantilever brake.
