Triple Play! Three Awesome Trains! Manifest, Coal, Intermodal. Blue Cut Cajon Pass 1-9-22

We went out yesterday for a short time. This was our first catch. Three trains meet at Blue Cut, Cajon Pass. First we get a westbound Mammoth Union Pacific Manifest train with mid DPUs, hoppers, lumber cars and tank cars. Main track 2. Not long after as the Manifest is passing below me we get another Union Pacific lash up. Up on UP’s Palmdale Cutoff traveling south. It looks like they are hauling coal or something light. it’s a beautiful train and both moving across the screen was fun to watch. Both trains gliding down Cajon Pass. As the top train leaves sight we get a BNSF Intermodal heading up main track 1 east. It’s a nice super long train with mid DPU’s and a treat to witness. We enjoyed our day immensely! A beautiful train on a perfect day. Plenty of power up top leads this heavy lash up. BNSF and Norfolk Southern double team along main track 2 eastbound. These Norfolk Southern locomotives are on their way home. BNSF shares power often with other railroads for cost and efficiency. It’s a nice long Intermodal in Well cars and she easily keeps a steady pace! Buddy even makes an appearance for a moment! 🐕. Beautiful relaxing action with a beautiful Cajon Pass backdrop! That upper train has to be alum coal cars. Ore cars are about half that length. Ore is a lot heavier than coal. I see those car every day.
