The Galilean Moons of Jupiter

Of the 60+ moons of the planet Jupiter, the four largest are known as the Galilean moons. They got this name because they were discovered by Galileo Galilei using his telescope in 1610. The four moons are Io, Europe, Ganymede and Callisto. The largest is Callisto which is in fact the largest moon in the solar system and is larger than the planet Mercury.
