Matthew Perry was such a good actor. He shined in this role. May he Rest in Peace.

An incredibly human reaction from Joe here, I remember my family being shocked that he would lie even for a moment about the Justice’s condition. But in that moment he’s not only frustrated with the prevailing political winds, but heartbroken that Toby was right.

The biggest tragedy of all is that Matthew Perry wasn’t full cast member. He knocked it out of the park on Studio 60 and would’ve been just as fantastic on The West Wing.

The way Perry's face shuts down at 4:32 "He's fine, Toby...". Beautifully acted.

There's a Matthew Perry shaped hole in the world and it won't ever be full, but his moments like this are what make it a little easier.

Finished watching all 7 seasons, episode a night, a couple months ago. I think I'll start again, something comforting about watching a political system working with dignity and class, given what's going on in real life.

"Octagenarian confusion." Now I remember where I first heard that.

I've never watched The West Wing, but for some 'mysterious' reason, the algorithm wanted me to see this scene now.

Perry should have done more serious roles. He had some good acting chops.

1. Kudos to whoever uploaded this today of all days.
2. Matthew was incredible in his time on The West Wing
3. Toby was right. Painful and inhumane as it appeared to be, Toby was right.

An excellent choice of a clip at this political moment. Matthew Perry was great in his dramatic role on TWW. May he rest in peace.

Toby's fictional concerns are now becoming reality.

TWW was and will remain my favorite show of Aaron Sorkin’s. One thing he wrote very well is the level of loyalty law clerks have regardless if they are SCOTUS Clerks or if they are local Superior Court Clerks. It is a special bond and undying loyalty that often times can complicate judgement and/or ethics. Every former law clerk of any judge that has been under my wing when they enter private practice have strong pride in their clerkship years and are loyal to a fault. It’s incredible.

What a great show his was! So many of the political topics have returned in ridiculous form today.

This cannot possibly be a coincidence.

This show was so beyond good in a way that most people at their normal acuity can't even comprehend the astuteness of scenes like this, and how they have more meaning now than 20 yrs ago when they aired
