“How about a live-action remake of an evergreen animated movie… but more woke and insufferable?” – Disney on their strategy and thinking behind Peter Pan and Wendy.

Even their shareholders told them to stop but they still keep going.

Pure coincidence that they started trying to make their historic villains sympathetic while making terrible project decisions.

The bad guys do what they do best, took over power, ruin as much as possible, blame everyone else.

Disney HAS become a Disney villain.

Nah, this isn't "sunken cost fallacy", this is ideology-driven "youll get what we give you and youll like it" no matter the cost, until the ONLY option is wokeshit

All they have to do is follow the money, make films like Encanto, Mulan and Moana; they'll have no end to people watching their movies!

Growing up is a worthwhile adventure all its own. Disney should try it.

It's not the sunk cost fallacy, but ideology and ESG.

Universal seems to be stepping up to be the biggest guy on the block once more.

The fact that they thought that they could still get their money back after how much they sunk in just proves Disney is too big to care about the potential losses.

you know, Im really glad dreamworks hasnt gone this route. I dont think anyone wants to see a live action jack black in a panda suit.

It's not sunk cost fallacy... They're renewing their copyrights... They built the empire on public domain stories and they're re-upping before the copyright on their adaptations runs out.

16 live action remakes over 10 years(Im counting from alice in wonderland 2010). out of the 16 only 2 have been financial failures, Pan(down 6 million) and Mulan(down 110 million). Another 2 were created just so that they can be added to Disney+ to increase its roster. All of the remakes cost a total of 2.87 billion to make(3 billion with the little mermaid which hasnt been out yet). Aladdin and Lion King ALONE made 2.6 billion in the box office. And that's ignoring all the merchandise they sold and all the other monetarily successful movies theyve had with the remakes.

So the point im trying to make is that Disney having 2 financial failures out of a myriad of movies of the same type isn't an example of the sunk cost fallacy. They're still way above the red line with all the money theyve made with the live action remakes and they dont give a single shit about these movies being failures in the eyes of critics because these movies are still making them money. And I wouldnt call the peter pan movie financial failure yet because it hasnt even been out for a month. It can break even or even go a bit beyond, if not with the tickets sales alone then with the added help of the merchendise.

I've noticed something, disney always race swaps the main characters but leaves the bad guys white

I believe that you really nailed the nail when you said "sunk cost fallacy in action." Every single woke liberal talking point since 2016 is maintained by the sunk cost fallacy.

And their only response to their failing model is "It's just all the bigotry"

I am convinced a very weird looking goblin type thing that used to be a human being somehow got addicted to estrogen and super forced voice lines. edit; and then proceeded to take over disney or hollywood and by proxy the cia.
