We love an Instagram moment. Let’s explore the top five photo spots in northern Taiwan. You’ll definitely be able to find the perfect place to for a quick selfie. The Laomei Green Reef is a seasonal favorite from March to May when green algae flourish on the surface of the coral reefs. Be sure to check the low tide times to get the right shot of one of the 8 wonders of Taiwan. Be careful though. The reefs are known to be slippery and fragile.

Xizhi Sheng De Temple offers the best view of the Taiwan Basin thanks to its location halfway up Dazhi mountain. The morning, noon, and dawn are the best times to take pictures. Just make sure to pay your respect to the Mazu deity and her golden dragons before you visit the archways.

Yeliu Camel Peak is a highlight of the Yeliu Geopark in Dong’ao Fishing Harbour. The peak has a camel hump that complements the unique yellow sandstone landscape. The dunes look like a desert that’s sandy but smooth at the same time.

The New Eighteen Lords Temple is home to a deity akin to Hachiko from Japan. This ginormous dog stands at an impressive 30 meters tall to commemorate 17 merchants who died enroute to Taiwan during the Ching dynasty. The dog initially survived the journey, but their faithful companion threw himself into the funeral fire upon realizing he couldn’t be with his owners anymore. Now known as ‘Wang Gong’, the 18 Lords face the sea while looking over local residents.

Shimen Seashell Temple is embossed with hundreds of thousands of breathtaking seashells and coral. The iridescent details of all different shapes and sizes are reminders that this temple is alive! Snap a picture at the wishing fountain enjoyed by tourists from all over the world.
