Beautiful, haunting track from Depeche Mode with Martin Gore on lead vocals. "The Things You Said" appears on Depeche Mode's 1987 album "Music For The Masses." It hasn't been performed live since the 1987-1988 tour. Here is what it might look like if it were performed on the current Global Spirit tour. For promotional purposes only. Audio track is borrowed from the Depeche Mode "101" live album (Mute/Sire). Please "like" if you agree this great song should be played live again. Thanks! #ByRequest #DepecheMode #TheThingsYouSaid #MartinGore

One of the most ingenious of the synth rock bands that were so prevalent in the 1980-90's. DP really hit the scene on the head with it's intricate rhythms and lyrical genius, perfect blends of vocalizations and righteous instrument segues with that always haunting electric piano and drum kicks. Powerful shit that drew you in and would not let go. The minute you here that one particular beat of opening sound you know who it is immediately, like you would with U2 perhaps? You didn't have to be all black Goth and gloomy to appreciate their genius and talent, we all got the groove and the inner head and heart feelings that these cats were putting out. ...and the dancing was quite interesting too, lol. Cheers DP! >>>and thank you. I should have written this ages ago. You consume me when I here all of this haunting-fabulous music.

Alan singing background vocals is the best part of this.

If not Somebody, then this is the best song sang by Martin. Sing this and let Dave sing Strangelove, But Not Tonight, Shake The Disease, etc.
