The Director of the US Secret Service has resigned amid bipartisan outrage at the near assassination of former US President Donald Trump at a campaign rally on July 13th. An assassin's bullet is suspected of grazing Trump's right ear as he was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania - the gunman quickly neutralized by a counter Secret Service sniper. Director Kimberly Cheatle's resignation comes a day after she testified before a House of Representatives committee into the attempt on Trump's life, that saw a rally attendee killed and two others injured.
