I’ll take Carlos’ sniper kill with his stock Winchester over all of those mentioned.

Weapons have come a long way since Carlos Hathcock. He held the record for years. God rest his soul.

At >2 miles away, you’re no longer a sniper, you are artillery.

For anyone that doesn’t understand the skill and significance of these shots just aiming a mm left or right could set you off a hundred meters, you have to take into account multiple wind speeds, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and even the curvature of the earth. These men aren’t marksmen they’re calculated instruments of war

Can we all take notice that although Craig is at number 5. He did his two hits with an actual sniper rifle, the L115a1 which fires .308 and isn't dialed to fire that fire even with the magnum lapua round. Whilst EVERYONE else where using modified .50 cal anti material rifles and above.

The Canadian JTF2 sniper is no longer anonymous. His name is Dallas Alexander, he’s a country singer these days.

9 seconds 2.36 Miles. 2.36 x 5280Ft = 12, 461 Ft / 9 seconds. = 1385 Ft per second. 12.7 x 108 mm Sniper round actually has a muzzle velocity of 2580 Ft per second so I don’t think it actually took 9 seconds to hit more like 4.8 seconds give or take. I was not a sniper, I was a designated Marksman, and carried mainly a SR-25 7.62x51 mm, and mainly engaged targets between 300-600 meters away, but I can still identify flawed shooting math when I see it.

Need to research the longest sniper kill of either the Revolutionary War or the 1812 War. An American sniper shot a British officer from 2 miles. Sniper was on a hill and officer was in a boat going back to his ship. Sniper used a long rifle.

For comparison 2.36 miles is 37 football field

If one fires at a 3 000 metre target often enough and include all of the required sniping parameters such as windage, gravity, projectile spin and coriolus in the ballistics determination, one will miss most of the time, say 98%, and hit some of the time, say 2%.

So if one fires enough rounds one will eventually or occas be successful.

These 2 000+ metre kills are good shooting, but the real deal in marksmanship is constant or repeated successes.

And the real deal in military sniping is constant and extended vigilance, patience, breathing control, inter alia.

One thing about it you never hear the bullet

White Feather had to have every kill verified by others, though he often went hunting alone. He used a accurized Winchester 30-06. To compare his deeds to modern snipers with $10, 000 platforms and the benefits of his experience developed over decades is BS. Land and Hathcock started the sniper school.
