60 Minutes pure aviation from my home airport - Düsseldorf Airport. This is the first aviation review of year 2021 on my channel and I would like to start with airplane highlights from my homeport Düsseldorf. This year had a lot to offer, it was much better than 2020 if we are just looking at the aviation highlights. The Airbus A380 finally returned to Düsseldorf and although most planespotters at Düsseldorf prefer the B777 over the A380 I have to say that I was very happy about the return of the A380. In my opinion four engines are just more amazing than two engines despite the face that the B777 is a beautiful airplane aswell. Especially the EXPO A380 livery is mesmerizing and incredible. This piece of art will show up quite ofter on my channel because now Emirates has four of these A380` s in their fleet. The chance of seeing all of them at Düsseldorf is quite good.
We just had two B747` s at Düsseldorf this year, both of them operated by ER-BAJ, a former Centurion Cargo plane which is now used by the armenian airline Aero Trans Cargo. DUS is not a place where you can see lots of Jumbo Jets sadly. Rarely we get a few cargo charter flights or a Lufthansa B747 diversion from Frankfurt. The B747 of Aerotrans arrived during a rare snowy day and departed again ferry to Astana. Another interesting highlight was the Airbus A310 which performed an interesting low approach at Düsseldorf during a training flight.
All in all it was a good year for planespotters at Düsseldorf although most long haul airlines are still not back. Delta, Singapore, Air China and All Nippon are still waiting for better times and we are not even sure if they are going to return at all.
