How to properly time your 12v Cummins Diesel Injection Pump

This video explains how you rotate your injection pump to .050 lift to properly time your injection pump.

STEPS:
1. Rotate engine to top dead center. Use barring tool counter clockwise to rotate the engine clockwise (looking at front of engine)
2. Insert timing tool in back of injection pump and secure. Make note of position of dial indicator.
3. Rotate engine counter clockwise using barring tool until dial indicator stops moving. (clockwise on barring tool.)
4. Zero out dial indicator.
5. Rotate engine clockwise back to top dead center. (barring tool rotates in counter clockwise direction)
6. Stop and top dead center and push in timing pin.
7. Make note of how much travel on dial indicator. Rotate injection pump to make a total of .050” lift from step 4.
8. Tighten nuts to secure injection pump.
9. install fuel lines.
10. Pull out timing pin.
