Ρίγη συγκίνησης στον απανταχού ελληνισμό, έχει προκαλέσει η απόφαση του Αρχιεπισκόπου Κύπρου, Χρυσοστόμου Β΄, να διανεμηθούν σημαίες που χρησιμοποίησαν οι Κύπριοι αγωνιστές κατά την Ελληνική επανάσταση, για να αναρτηθούν σε όλες τις εκκλησίες της ελεύθερης Κύπρου και με αυτόν τον τρόπο να τιμηθεί ο αγώνας για την ανεξαρτησία.
