They possibly used this when they won the gold. That team should forfeit their gold medals because they don't deserve them.

As a Canadian, I have the following take:

Someone in the Canadian Olympic Women's Soccer Team, decided that, in an area that's among the highest security on the planet at the moment, to use an unauthorized drone in restricted airspace, to spy on an opponent's soccer team.

Just think about this for a moment.

Against the rules? Probably, though this is the Olympics and it's been corrupt for decades.

Profoundly stupid? Absolutely.

Obviously an intelligence test is not required by the Canadian Soccer Association. What a pathetic example of CSA incompetence

Coach and all other staff that approved this scandal must be fired right away.
They destroyed Canada's dignity.

I wish all the teams were using drones to all spy on each other at the same time, and they all had a massive battle in the sky 😂 drones wars... 🤔 new olympic sport?

As a Canadian who isn't a huge fan of soccer but is a big fan of the Olympics I'd just like to say to any fans of competing countries who may read this that I'm deeply ashamed of my country for this scandal and I offer my most sincere apologies. This IS. NOT. what our country stands for.

What a shame! Now to be known as cheaters. A very sad day for all Canadians that agree with FAIR play. Just plain embarrassing. Not a proud Canadian moment.

It's very unfortunate. I must confess I didn't follow women's sports until I discovered the WNBA rookie phenom Caitlin Clark. I also had the privilege of listening to Hayley Wickenheiser speak at a conference in October of last year. Both of these women have opened my eyes to the exciting world of women's competition in sports. I can also confess that I have come to learn of many women sports figures who are obviously great at their chosen sports but are amazing role models for young girls and the rest of the humans who are paying attention!
What has occurred with the women's Olympic soccer team is not a good optic on many levels; however, it shouldn't tarnish the reputation of the games or other women's competitions. There will be plenty to say before it's all said and done! For now, let us play on!

The whole team may as well go home now. Any success they have from now on will be tainted

What really happened here was a rogue staff member went off the reservation and spied on the opponent with a drone. His immediate supervisor tasked him with researching the NZ team, just like they'd for any opponent. But she had no idea that this guy would resort to something like this. The players, coach and the rest of the staff had nothing to do with this incident, yet it will now taint any success they achieve going forward. How sad.

Setting aside my flag, there is absolutely no way these 2 individuals acted alone and just kept any information they gathered to themselves. C’mon. Despite the massive blow it would be for the players and those they inspire, the only fair resolution is for our team to be sent home.

No matter what the result of Canadian soccer at the Olympics they will forever known as cheats

I do care if there are women in practice stadiums were dressed naked, spying is a serious offense. And its unacceptable Canada soccer team should be banned from the Olympics. Drone spying should never happen again. It makes me ashamed of being a Canadian these days.

Not sure why this even matters, first it was not the team; not the team...and are there not advance scouts in soccer...there is in pro ball..., I repeat not the team.... explain the issue, why would it be so ***Soccer opponents gather as much information as possible about the opposing team. This can include things like game footage, statistics, and scouting reports. Teams can also attend games in person or watch online to get a sense of the opposing team's style of play and key players. How they did it may be questionable it is not illegal.

Now with all the drones in the air (apparently) how did they know it was from Canada. Did it have a flag (that would be a dead give away)?

Over 1.4 billion people with football as a main sport, and China 🇨🇳 can't find 2 dozen great football players. Yet, they don't think anything's wrong with their "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" football.
