Onewheel Pint Pushback Vs XR

It's sometimes funny what a company admits to through the redesign of their product. After seeing what the warning pushback on the Pint was really like, I feel like Future Motion essentially acknowledged that their XR model was too subtle, and likely contributed to the influx of riders who were wrecking at high speeds.

Either way, I take a moment and talk a bit about the differences between the Pint and the XR in terms of the push back. I hope you enjoy.

could FM not improve the way pushback works on the XR with some kind of firmware update though the app? to make it more noticeable? i'd love that because im so afraid of going faster because i fear i wont notice the pushback

I have a pint and loved the pint pushback while learning and recently rewheeled and added XR pushback and love it

Dude I can't get over how good your videos are. I've watched through your entire backlog and rewatched this video probably 4 or 5 times. The writing and narrating in this video in particularly is magnificent. Your students are well-served, I'm sure.

Good useful information, nicely analysed and visually documented.
Personally I like the more subtle pushback of my XR. It allows an experienced rider the option of going faster, ie Slydog style. And the Pint is more beginner optimised with very obvious pushback at a lower speed.
I hope FM doesn't ruin the next gen XR by giving it beginner style harsh pushback. And PLEASE FM, allow people to set the pushback speed in the app. I currently use a phone GPS Speedo app that gives an audio warning, it cuts my riding music and gives me the warning sound which is great, and I can set the speed. 🙂

I did not notice pushback on my XR before my first nosedive. Was going uphill leaning into it against the wind which was about 16-20 mph and was going I’m guessing around 16-17 mph speed wise.But weird part was that I slowed down at the top of the hill to cross an intersection crossed it and then I ate shit. Got up dusted myself off 🤷‍♂️ shrugged at the vehicle behind me and got back on in fazed.

I discovered I can ride from Saint Paul to Minneapolis on my Pint and the pushback on the pint saved me in the bike lane numerous times! Can't wait for the review!

Really wish they had an audible alert to push back as well

I ride them all and push back is easy to sense on either board if u r paying attention. Not crazy about push back, I respect the beep on my gotways. Maybe there should b a beep on the one wheels?! The beep gives me the choice where as tilt back. Forces u to compensate or push forward.

My issue w/ pushback is why couldn't a simple audible sound be made by the board to alert a rider that they are approaching pushback before it engages? The first time it engaged on my Pint -- when I was **trying** to hit it for the first time so I'd know what to expect if I hit it by accident -- my board didn't so much pitch up as it simply became completely unstable and forced me to ditch at about 12 mph. Or even an alert via the app if they can't install a small speaker in the board, since anyone who would prefer the audible warning could easily keep their phone volume up and the OW app running to track their ride.
