I’m ashamed to know that I only learned this a couple years ago. I immediately went out and bought wider dishes for my cats and they instantly stopped pulling their food out of the dish to eat off the floor.

Whisker stress is definitely a very real thing.

Dearest Cat Daddy and family so sympathy on the loss of your Beautiful Scarlet. Your babies are your babies no matter their language. Much peace and blessings 🕊️

My car would flip her water bowl no matter how wide. I got her a fountain and she is a happy baby. Your advice is so valuable. Thank you for all that you do.

I just use an old dish from the cabinet because of this. I binge watched Jackson Galaxy for months before getting my cat 😸

I learned about whisker stress on your channel as a first time cat owner. I ended up getting a pedestal dish that is shallow and wide like a plate, and the cats love it.

Thanks Jackson. This is so obvious, I can't believe we all never figured this out. Thanks so much for being a super cat daddy to all our babies! Love from California.

I inherited an old set of plates and I use the dessert plates and the saucers to feed my cats.

I use plates. My Joey scooped out food from the bowl and put it on the floor. I have always used large flat bowls for water til I bought fountains

Thank you so much for this video. When we adopted Ally, she had no teeth. She was a part of a hoard rescue and they wound up having to pull most of the cats teeth. After seeing your video, she was doing the exact same things that you said. Pulling her food out of the bowl with her paw, eating only part of it and taking the food out and putting it on her mat. I went and got a plate and started putting her food on it. It's been a few days and she is eating all of her food that I give her and asking for more. This never even dawned on me about the whiskers. Again thank you so much. You do so much for us cat owners.

Thank you for pointing this out Jackson. I always skip those cutesy bowls in favor of flat plates

I always use a side plate, and Abbey loves the space!

Please stress to people the dangers of throwing kittens that are “ready” to be weaned outside to defend themselves!
I rescue animals off the streets and find their owner or find them a new home. Recently my sister brought me a kitten. Clearly by observation this kitten was raised in a home with other cats and dogs and more than one person cause this cat wasn’t afraid of any of the people or pets that I do have. It was not feral. My observation is that someone threw them out to fend for themselves when they became “of age”. This is a death sentence to these kittens people!

Yes! My cats started eating when I finally switched to a porcelain flat-ish dish made for this purpose.

It was cute to watch Bob use his paw to "hand" each bit of food out of the bowl, plop them on the floor then eat them one by one. _But!_ I already knew about whisker stress, so now he eats out of a wider bowl. Cuteness doesn't matter as much as their comfort & well-being.

Been feeding on plates for a while now. She likes it better, and she makes less of a mess. Win-Win.
