Beautiful Hunza Valley, enchanted by icy winds, where ancient forts are a major tourist attraction. These forts include the 700-year-old Baltit Fort. In which the antiquities present take the viewers to the beautiful valleys of the past,
The most beautiful part of the castle is the Royal Garden, the lush greenery of which still exists today. It is said that the king of Baltistan gave this fort to his daughter in dowry. The fort has 62 gates and 53 rooms. And to build it, the king sent a team of skilled artisans from his kingdom to the Hunza Valley. Apart from the stone, traditional work of precious wood has also been done in the construction of the fort.
Impressions made on doors and windows are evidence of the mastery of their creators. The viewers cannot live without praising. Until 1945, the fort was used by the rulers of Hunza. In 1990, the son of the last Hunza ruler formally handed over the fort to the Baltit Heritage Trust. In 1990, the Aga Khan Trust, with the help of the US and Norway governments, began restoring the fort Which was completed in 1996
The fort also received the award for Best Restoration from UNESCO in 2004. The architecture of this fort is similar to the architecture of Tibet. A similar fort, Potala, exists in Lhasa, Tibet. Not only is the architecture of the two forts identical, but both are located on a high peak at the foot of the high mountains. They were also considered very safe in terms of defense. Today, this fort is the center of special attention of the tourists who come to Gilgit-Baltistan with many stories of the past hidden in their chests.
