The Solution: Build more High Speed Rail lines.
Germany can defenitely get better at this, For example new HSR Fulda-Frankfurt, via LGV Est), Berlin-Großenhein, Berlin-Leipzig, Leipzig-Großenhein, Dresden-Usti nad labem-Prague, Berlin-Frankrud (Oder)-Poznan(-Warsaw via the new Y-line), Hamburg-Copenhagen via Fehrman Belt(-Helsingborg-Jönköping-Stockholm), Wolfsburg-Hannover-Osnabrück-Amsterdam, via Hannover-Wurzburg HSR-line), Hannover-Bielefeld-Dortmund, Hamburg-Hannover, Hamburg-Bremen-Osnabrück-Münster-Dortmund, Münster-Essen, Separating the train lines in Rein-Ruhr so High speed trains runs on dedicated tracks like they already do at Düsseldorf airport station (maybe even running the RRX-trains on these tracks to make good high-speed rail connections in NRW that you can use the Deutschlandsticket on) and more ofc...

Today A new 'high speed' rail has been announced from Berlin to Paris. It takes 8 hours. This is not high speed, this is regular speed. Where is the ambition?

Faster trains are nice and should also be a priority, but more frequent service is really what will get people onto trains. Making a train schedule that allows frequent service outside of just between major cities/stops will transform trains from transport for urban/semi urban communities to a system that allows both suburban and urban transit seamlessly. That also requires a system of other smaller and frequent public transit to get people to train stations quickly and efficiently

Rural areas, although wonderful, are too inconvenient for trains to be a primary method of transport unfortunately

Without building new railways - literally building new paths, which is EXTREMALY complicated - I won't believe in efficient high speed rail transport like Japan has...
