Pittsburgh is one of the safest cities in the United States, and the Oakland/Shadyside area (where CMU is located) is a particularly safe area of Pittsburgh. The part of this video that talks about not walking off campus alone is completely false.

Also, you should probably learn how to pronounce the names of things before recording voice-overs

Not walking alone except on campus? Please. Whomever wrote this obviously never lived in an urban area, and is weirded out by, um, people who aren't all cookie cutter the same. As in any urban area, as long as you don't walk around in a self -absorbed fog, you are unlikely to have any problems. One of the best parts of living in a city is all the things you will see that you wouldn't in a less urban setting. Exercising a normal amount of caution, without resorting to boot-quaking fear, is sufficient to enable you to enjoy the city (any city, actually), without feeling the need to hire a bodyguard.

Dude lets be real... I haven't find any other places safer than the oakland off campus area to walk alone...

Once I was riding a bus out in Pittsburgh and this guy snuck on and the driver kicked him off and he threw a tantrum and tried to bite the driver.
