G7 외교, "시리아 계속 지원시 추가제재"…러시아 전방위 압박
Foreign ministers from the G7 major industrialized nations are meeting in Italy, with an aim to put pressure on Russia to break its ties with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said support for Assad was "toxifying the reputation of Russia" and suggested sanctions could be imposed on Moscow if it refused to change course.
The ministers will also try to hammer out a unified response towards the war in Syria.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will then seek to deliver this unified stance to Russia when he visits the country on Tuesday.
It will be one of his biggest diplomatic tests yet as President Trump's friendly ties with Moscow could be jeopardized depending on how Tillerson delivers the G7 ministers' message.
