The Fugitive, Indiana Jones and the Guest Star of Destiny
Показать описание
Indiana Jones and the Guest Star of Destiny. Even Richard Kimble might run from this CineMeme Reel and Short!
The Fugitive? Classic. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny? Not so much. While Harrison Ford brings his signature charm, even he couldn’t save this convoluted plot. At times, it feels like an Indiana Jones movie, but too often, it feels like a generic studio product. The Kathleen Kennedy force pull is strong with this one. There are some parts which feel like classic Indy, for example, the wishy washy deep fake younger Indy part at the beginning or the subway station train scene, but overall, it's weak like old man Indy weak. It feels disjointed from the rest of the franchise. A bit like A Good Day to Die Hard was for the Die Hard series.
Lucasfilm’s trend of sidelining legacy characters (The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett, anyone?) strikes again, treating them like outdated has-beens. Here, Indy is overshadowed by his bratty and knows-it-all goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) and her inexplicably resourceful sidekick, Teddy, who learns to fly a plane in minutes. Helena is a terrible person overall and treats Indy poorly. Did not feel like rooting for her.
This isn’t the sunset send-off a cinematic legend like Indiana Jones deserves. I really wanted to love this movie, but it felt more like a messy farewell than a triumphant adventure. And this ending is so weak from a sensical point of view.
Anyhow, did you like the 5th Indy installment? Have you seen The Fugitive? What is your favorite Harrison Ford role?
