Seven minutes of my time well spent. I'm not exactly a noob, but due to life commitments and a dead computer, I haven't used Blender at all for a couple of years. I now have a (very basic) laptop that I've installed v3.0 on and I'm trying to refresh my memory by doing some basic tutorials like this one. Very nice work Ryan.

BTW, I've also watched several of your other videos and found them very helpful. One thing I want to congratulate you on is your presentation and speaking style. It's very clear and you speak at just the right pace, not too fast that I can't take in what you are saying, but not so slow as to send me to sleep. Far too many tutorials I've watched have the speaker sounding as if they are reading from a twenty minute long script and trying to fit it into a ten minute video. Some have been that bad that I've actually given up watching what is an otherwise great tutorial. You also don't waffle, or go on with anecdotes and other stuff that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Thanks for this, didn't realise you had to use tab. They should have a text box for that in the inspector in my opinion

Wonderful, concise tutorial... very glad I found your channel.

I would love you to go over more complex typography. (Disclaimer: I'm a Yellow Belt in Blender.) Right now, I do most of my typography and text-related artwork by adding a curve, and then adding text. Then, this: {Object Mode} Select Text > Add Modifier > Curve Modifier >> Select the curve I added earlier in the dropdown in the "Curve Object" box in the Curve Modifier Panel.

I learned this move from a tutorial that I think was made in the year 1887, in some version of Blender that used light grey backgrounds... that was loaded by a robot voice (which is a little better than YouTube Creative Commons Music, I guess).

This method is a little clumsy and counter-intuitive. If there's a more agile and streamlined way to put text along a curve... gamechanger for me.

Scale and size should not be confused. If you scale text you may change the word or character spacing. That was a huge pet peave for our head of Graphic Design lol

cool thanks, im just starting to try to emit soft body letters, so i extruded 'Merry Christmas" (text) and then r click turn to mesh, ill stick them in a collection and add them as a particle. im going to have them fall and spell out a card for my friends, your vid has helped me be more confidant going forward, there's an easy way to break out the letters from the word so you can select the letters individually in object mode, i did it but cant remember just now.

Great video, I have a question about the geometry in the mesh. It looks pretty crazy in Edit mode, and I was wondering if there's a way to clean it up? I need to unwrap, but I'd like to have cleaner geometry when I do my unwarp (no quads). What about remesh? Or is there a standard way to clean this up?

Awesome! But I still don't know to export the text like we usually do on inkscape or gimp. Or how we can use blender to create banners or avatars logo, and I'm talking about selecting the right sizes and formats to export and use on social media. Anyway, great video. Thanks a lot! 🙏🏻
