Met John. Age 15. Set up a sound system for him in San Jose. After the show he ... encouraged me to become a singer/ songwriter. 40 years later ... while attending a concert a a Seattle Winery ... he walked off stage and serenaded me and my wife with my favorite sone "Angel From Montgomery". I cried. My wife cried. The first 3 rows cried. Even John got a bit misty. The best of times. Thanx, John. 🤠

Half the fun of listening to John was the stories before the songs. And sometimes the stories kept going throughout the song. What a genius!

February 9th, 2021 - stuck in polar vortex, but warm inside my mind, listening to John Prine. Ironic, but I have never heard this song before. John was one of a kind!

I regret that I neglected his music years ago. I thought of most of it as jokey songs, which I did not like. But looking back, his songs were deeper and far more thoughtful than they seemed to be on the surface. Fare thee well, John.

John Prine could write tragic songs like Sam Stone, empathy songs like Hello in There. But he was also the funniest songwriter of all time. I once saw him in concert in Taos, NM in what was like a large cafeteria . The audience sat at tables. Before every song he told some funny story. I have never laughed so hard at a concert in my life, before or after. He had such a creative way of putting words together and fitting them to the tune. A one of a kind songwriting genius. Sure do miss him but we have his songs to listen to as a great legacy.
