Hey all, in this video I'll be sharing about why and how I transitioned into Software engineering from Electrical Engineering. I did my bachelors degree in electrical engineering and by the time I was almost done, I realized that it wasn't 100% right fit for me, thus, I decided to try something new. I learned a lot and grew fond up working as a software engineer. As always, if you'd like to see some other video made by me, please let me know! Thank you for watching this video, please, feel free to share about your experience!

I am currently doing an degree in electronic engineering and I feel like I totally relate to what you mentioned in this video. it’s comforting to know it’s possible to transition and find you like enjoy doing :)

I study electrical and electronics engineering, it was not my first pick, I study this because I could not enter to computer engineering department but I still want to do programming so now I try to find subdivisions and other possible ways to find something I can enjoy doing after I graduate electrical and electronics engineering. But, I was hopeless, thinking I won't be able to find a job I actually want which is related with my own department but you gave me hope, after I graduate I will definitely try to change career.

This is awesome. I am an electrical engineer, and I am considering embedded systems engineering and embedded software engineering. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Actually studying EE as first step for embedded software is good and the father of embedded systems(Jack Ganssle) told it ! Quite difficult to work on the transition from hardware to software but you have really understood the basics of embedded with electronics, thanks for sharing your experience !

I graduated with my EE degree in 2019. Currently working with automation and controls in the manufacturing industry. I work a lot with PLCs and other industrial devices. The pay is very good, but I don’t feel very engaged by this type of work. Plus the travel can be brutal at times - usually 1 month trips at a time. Im hoping to transition to an embedded systems or product development position within the next year.

I come from the old channel, and being at senior year I'm thinking of switching over to software development as well. Thanks for making this!

its awesome how I identify myself in your history... I am in the senior year of my electrical engineering bachelor here in Brazil and i have this same feeling that should have done CS. Now, i am in software engineer intern role which only makes me more sure of it haha

Motivating video :) I'm electrical engineer too and want change my profession as an embedded software engineer but unfortunately I'm too old for all this (I'm 40) and currently live in Russia. In Russia it is not customary to change careers at the age of 40

Thank you for this video I enjoyed listening to your changing story and what bring me to this video is I was searching to know more about FPGA and I saw some of your videos in the first channel and it was really helpful

I have a request, in the last part of the video you mentioned that we can learn alot about ML and software engineering on YouTube and this is the future, can you please in the next video talk more about that topic and from where we can start in this filed and a recommended sources

Thank you, we appreciate your work.

I too changed careers from Electrical Engineering to Software Development
I hated electrical engineering from from the start of my college days along with the out dated lab equipment and curriculum

Job opportunities paid less than working at Wage donalds as well
I switched and have never looked back

Thank you for the amazing video🙏.
Even I want to become an embedded software engineer. But don't have a clear idea about what skills to acquire and from where to start.
I have a degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engg, it would be really helpful for me if you could share some advice on where to begin from?

Great video thanks for doing this mate, I've just graduated from my degree apprenticeship as an automation engineer (mainly for industrial applications). I like the idea of embedded system work as you get to do the fun stuff without doing shifts in a factory, what IDE would you recommend for starting out? If it works on MacOS that would be even better! Cheers

This video was great! I'm not sure if it would fit into the theme of your channel but could you do something where you talk about how you packaged your python program into an application
